My pots will soon need to be emptied and cleaned ready for next year, but this one is still in bloom.

The finishing touch

The decking has been replaced and the pots of flowers add the finishing touch. Just right for enjoying a cup of coffee.

My Friend's Clematis

I couldn't resist taking a snap of this pretty clematis as I sat chatting in my friend's garden. Not sure on the variety (neither was she) but it was the colour that I found so attractive.

This Clematis has been really beautiful this year. It was in full bloom when I returned from my holiday and is still looking good. For some reason it seems to do well on alternate years.

Preparing for Winter

Today I took advantage of reasonable weather. Washing the flower pots ready for winter storage seems has come around a lot earlier this year. This is normally a job for late October but all the flowers died early due to wet summer.

How does my garden grow!

I try and grow a few peppers in pots in my front porch. Every year they seem to do well except for the infestation of aphids that invade as soon as they take root. I even made up a concoction of boiling rhubarb leaves and mixing with soap flakes as a natural remedy. It was not successful. Tried a chemical hubby bought from the garden centre and still they come back. I am forever cleaning up the mess they make on the windows and the shelf. However the peppers seem to be thriving as you can see below.

The other plant that is thriving is this white geranium I was given it by a neighbour at the beginning of last winter. We potted it and hoped for the best. It seemed to survive even with no heating in the porch. It went out into one of my front urns and had really thrived, wish I had remembered to take a photo a bit earlier as it is beginning to look a little dishevelled after all the rain.

Arachnophobia~ I hope not!

I have to confess I'm not really a lover of spiders but I saw this active little spider in the garden this morning and had to take a photo.

Sedums make good food!

If you look carefully you may be able to see a couple of bees feeding. My tortoises also like to feast on the Sedum leaves.
